- iPhones aus Festlandchina, Hongkong und Macau haben meist zwei SIM-Kartenplätze statt eSIM. Stammt deins von dort, prüfe zuerst die Einstellungen.
- Samsung: Ob eSIM geht, hängt vom Modell und vom Verkaufsland ab. Manche Varianten desselben Modells haben keine eSIM.
- Google Pixel: Ab Pixel 4 gibt es eSIM. Pixel 3 und 3a unterstützen sie in den meisten Ländern.
- Reine eSIM-Handys: iPhone 14 und neuer aus den USA sowie das iPhone Air haben gar keinen SIM-Schacht.
- Handys mit Netzsperre können keine andere eSIM nutzen, bis die Sperre aufgehoben ist.

Hast du es ohne Vertrag beim Hersteller oder im Handel gekauft, ist es meist entsperrt. Kam es mit einem Vertrag, frag deinen Anbieter. Auf dem iPhone zeigt Einstellungen → Allgemein → Info → Netzbetreibersperre „Keine SIM-Beschränkungen“, wenn es entsperrt ist.
Kann ich eine Reise-eSIM auf einem Handy mit zwei SIM-Kartenplätzen nutzen?
Nur, wenn es zusätzlich einen eSIM-Chip hat. Handys mit zwei SIM-Kartenplätzen ohne eSIM können keine eSIM installieren.
